The location of the Recreation Ground on the outskirts of the village makes it a prime target for some mindless vandalism.

We urge all residents who use the Recreation Ground for walking their dogs or playing with their children to be vigilant and on the look-out for potential vandals. If you see suspicious people or cars please contact a committee member or phone the police Community Crime Unit on 01438 757604 (24-hours).

The grandstand is always a prime target...

Do you recognise this individual whose portrait appears on the stand?  If so, please call us or the police.

The window to the 'shed' changing room has had to be boarded over after stones were continuously thrown at it.

Goalposts at the Rec have been broken and the crossbars bent by the vandals.
In December 2006 new posts were installed alongside the car park as requested by the Parish Council. Within days of Simon Callis's hard work in installing the posts, a car was driven across the junior pitch causing much damage and a number of the posts were pulled out.

Crime at the Rec is a crime against all the residents of Pirton.

Some of the ruts were inches deep, especially on the junior pitch used by 12- and 13-year-old players. It took Football Club members a number of hours to get the pitches back into a playable condition.

On March 1st 2007 a car was again driven over the Recreation Ground - this time across all three pitches. Because of heavy recent rain the damage done was considerable. If you have seen any suspicious cars at the Rec please phone us or the police.
A new sign had to be installed to replace the original which was the target of the graffiti artists.
In February 2007 attempts were made to kick off the handles of the players' entrance and the door to the overflow changing room in the 'shed'. A crack can be seen on the handle on the left.
A BB gun or similar was used to fire pellets at the windows in the doorway dedicated to the memory of Rod Hamilton-McLeod.

The cabin hooks used to hold the doors open have been ripped off three times.

Bonfire Night 2006

Vandals burned tables, chairs, parts of the marquee and wheelie bins.

Waste bins are constantly the object of damage.
Half of the benches in the grandstand have been ripped out and dumped in the hedgerow.
