Special Events

The Recreation Ground and the Sports and Social Club are the perfect location for those big outdoor events for the whole village.

The annual Pirton Show takes place in July and is a great afternoon out for the whole family. The central arena hosts a number of displays and competitions, while a variety of stalls sell bric-a-brac, books, plants, etc, as well as providing information about local societies and activities. The bar is open all day and the live music continues well into the evening for those who want to dance the night away.

The Classic and Vintage Car Display is now a standard feature in the PSSC's Calendar. Sponsored by Hitchin Rotary Club it features over 100 vehicles and is free entry. Come and have a drink and a wander among cars from all eras.

Late Summer sees the Candlelight Picnic take place at the Recreation Ground. Entry is free and live entertainment is provided by local musicians. The licensed bar is available, so just bring a picnic and some candles or lanterns to enjoy the special atmosphere as the summer sun goes down.

The Bonfire Night Fireworks Display is now an established feature in Pirton's annual calendar of events. Thousands of pounds worth of fireworks are released in a professional display on the playing fields. A variety of hot food is on sale as well as the traditional mulled wine. The entertainment doesn't stop with the fireworks, as the music continues on into the evening.

Christmas brings the annual Boxing Day Run, now a firm favourite in the calendar of many serious - and less-serious - runners across the south of England. Enrol early if you're interested, as places are limited. See the BDR's website at https://fb.me/e/2ITNYxR7g.

Plans to update the existing Sports and Social Club, including a new changing room block are now well under way. This is a long-term project, involving much work and fund-raising. For more information, check the Pavilion page or contact a member of the Committee
